Door Issues and Paper Cranes - Week Eleven 2/2/15

Today we locked ourselves out of our apartment. We went up the stairs and to our door, and the handle was missing on the outside. It has been falling off for a while now, and usually its not a big problem, but today was different. We went to put the handle back on, and the other side of the handle was pushed really far back into the door. We couldnt reach it! Also, no tenemos nuestro telefonico, o los numeros de nadie. We didnt know what to do, so we decided that we were going to have to somehow climb up to one of our balconeys and get in that way (we live on the 2nd floor). We were trying to figure out how to do that, and we decided that we were going to go through the back door, but we didnt have the keys for the garage gate thing, and so we knocked on the door to our neighbors apartment. We told her what was wrong, and she told us to give her the keys and she went to pur door and opened it right up! We were so embarrassed and thankful, but long story short, (too late) we got into our house, and everything is great, and we dont actually need a door handle.
We have been having Noche de Hogar (family home evening) with a menos activa familia for the whole time that I have been here, and it has been okay, but this past week, we decided to try to do something different. Hermana Yi used her asian skills and made 6 paper cranes, all with a part of NdH on them. Por ejemplo, prayer, snack, game, etc. Then we took a plain piece of paper and talked about how without God, we are nothing, We want to be differnent, and we want to change, but without divine help, we can do nothing. Then we shared Alma 26;12 and explained that the piece of paper is us, and we are like God when we help it to become a paper crane. As the actividad, Hermana Yi taught us all how to make paper cranes! I even made one!! The last thing that we did was we laid out all of the cranes that Hna Yi had made, and had everyone pick one (ourselves included) and that was what they had to do for next weeks NdH. It worked out really well, and I got the crane that said comida, so I have to bring the snack for friday, but thats fine. The important thing is that someone in their family got that one that said mensaje, and that we are teaching them how to be self sufficient.
Our investigator Lorena is progressing, but we are having a hard time teaching her because she cant read. If anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated!
On Saturday, we visited with some of the cutest people I have seen yet. They are a young couple, and the girlfriend (Dai) is 21 and the boyfriend (Diego) is 20, and they have been living together for 5 years. They dont have any kids, and their house is the cutest thing ever! It is one room, and Dai hads decorated it with tons of handmade/hand sewn things. When we got to their appointment, Dai had made us cake and juice, and it was sooo good! I wanted to eat more, but we had lunch right after, and so we couldnt. We taught lesson 1, the restauration, and it went really well, and they both accepted baptisimal dates! They are going to be baptised, I know it.
On a more wordly note, Bastille was on the radio on the bus, and I thought of Haley, and her performance at the talent show. Ruthie, you did a dang good job. Also, we had a ward activity, and we were using a ward members computer, and they had Sims 3!!!
Thats all I have to report, so I love you all, and hope that you are all doing well, and staying warm, Here, its 113 degrees farenheight most days, with intense thunder storms inbetween. Pero, esta bien. ¿Va a hacer?
Con Mucho Amor,
Hermana Spencer
P.S. Pictures arent working, so I will have to send you the picture of my mate cup next week.
